Room Design Process
A room design process is a series of activities we do to design the room. We follow the same design process for all rooms in the house. Here is the list of activities in the room design process:- Find an inspiration piece. This could be a piece of art, a piece of furniture or an area rug.
- Find the art for the room. If the inspiration piece is not the art, then we pick out the art for the room. The art gives the designer the emotional response the client wants from the room.
- Develop the conceptual style and color guide for the room.
- Make scale drawings of the room.
- Create conceptual plans for the furniture, the flooring, the lighting, and treatments for the ceiling, walls, and windows.
- Create a preliminary budget.
- Have the client sign off on the conceptual plan.
- Find and purchase the products to use in the room.
- Get estimates from contractors as needed.
- Create a schedule for the construction phase
- Create contract documents, which includes the final design, budget and schedule.
- Have the client sign off on the contract documents and make a deposit.
- Go to construction phase of the project. Monitor product procurement, quality of workmanship, budget and schedule until the project is done.
